Vintage Industrial Urban Wedding
Mandi Oakes & Joseph Oliver - Oct 21st
We met in Oliver's Antique shop, so I guess you can say our love of junk brought us together. I had Heirlooms, a vintage rental company, for about six years at that time. You see all types of weddings when you are in the wedding decorating business and when you own your own antique store you collect a lot of stuff. Between the two of us we had an endless inventory to choose from. However, we wanted something different, something no one had done or seen before, something that would scream Oliver and Mandi. We tried to stick with a combination of our favorite styles. Oliver loves industrial modern design and furnishings. I love all victorian furniture and rustic primitive decor. The challenging part was mixing all of those styles together in a cohesive manner without making it look like a thrift store.
The industrial element was our venue, 11th Street Ruins. An open air space, that was a part of our rental warehouse, it would be the perfect backdrop for our vintage industrial event. It was the remaining ruins of an old industrial warehouse that had vines and trees naturally decorating the walls. The old windows, rustic track doors and remnants of demoed walls gave the perfect industrial vibe we were looking for. With the help of our stylist, Molly Nicole Designs, we managed to fill the harsh industrial walls with romantic velvet furniture for seating, primitive farm tables for eating, rustic furnishings and gold accents for decor, accomplishing our vintage industrial vibe. Our amazing flowers, from Chickamauga Florist, helped tie everything together. Green natural inspired vines with intertwined deep colored roses and jewel toned peonies, crept up the walls and over the rustic wooden doors softening the walls and extenuating the tufted velvet furniture. Trees that had grown within the walls protruded from the cement creating an urban garden right in downtown Chattanooga.
Under the open sky and twinkling bistro lights, we celebrated our love for each other and our love of junk, in our own secret garden surrounded by our family and friends. It was the perfect night full of everything and everyone we love.
